Queenscliff Marine Station Community Day

11 August 2019 @ 10:00 am2:00 pm

Free

How is the Moon connected to the ocean? Through tides! Discover how tides work and how they influence the plants and animals that call the ocean home by visiting the Queenscliff Marine Station Community Day during National Science Week.

Visitors can chat with a marine science expert from Deakin University and the Victorian Fisheries Authority and participate in interactive activities that will be on display throughout the station. Explore the aquarium exhibits at the Marine and Freshwater Discovery Centre; where you can experience a hands-on encounter with some of the marine creatures you commonly encounter on a rock rambling walk.

Interested to learn about local marine research projects?  The Community Day will also have a series of short talks from marine scientists and local community groups about the weird and wonderful marine life that call Port Phillip Bay home.

Situated on the shores of Swan Bay, the Queenscliff Marine Station is ideally-located for learning about the local marine environment and inspire interest in marine science.
