Bizarre whales, tiny dinosaurs, fossil insects, and the giants of the Ice Age will appear among the objects of wonder and awe rarely displayed. Museum scientists and special collection items will be on show for this special day.

Watch fossil preparators work to excavate fragile bones and teeth, and learn how museum experts preserve fossils for the centuries to come.

As well as meeting museum scientists, you’ll get a chance to meet research scientists from around Victoria and hear about their latest discoveries on climate change, de-extinction and mystery marsupials.
