Yaapeet students and visitors explore the local bush for Science Week 2018
Last month in celebration of National Science Week, Yaapeet Primary School Science teacher, Jeanie Clark, organised a guided bush walk for students and visitors.
Guided by former resident and Wyperfeld park ranger, Mr Rod Newnham, Yaapeet Primary School students learned how local plants cope in dry climate conditions.
Armed with a wealth of knowledge from Rod’s visit, the students then became guides for community members visiting their local nature reserve that afternoon. Students explained to visitors how plants conserve moisture in periods of low water availability, and how changes in climate affect plant biodiversity.
