STEM Reading and Design Challenge
16 August 2018 @ 1:30 pm – 5:30 pm
FreeStudents will read a book (fiction or non-fiction) related to STEM and do one of the following inspired by the book they have read:
- plan and carry out an experiment; or
- plan and build an invention.
Students will present their findings/invention to the school community during lunchtime and to parents and the wider community during NationalScience Week. This project allows students to conduct science and engineering activities beyond the usual science program. Students with have full ownership over their project and a choice in the activity they will do.
Reading about STEM in various contexts and visiting the displays of their peers brings the attention of the students to the relevance of science to everyday life. By displaying their work, they do the same for the teachers, parents and wider community members.
