The Science of Mine Rehabilitation

Rehabilitating and closing the Latrobe Valley’s brown coal mines is a complex and fascinating challenge. Understanding the science and technology behind making former mines safe, stable and sustainable will help Latrobe Valley residents plan for the future of their region.

Join Professor Rae Mackay, Latrobe Valley Mine Rehabilitation Commissioner, and special guests for a series of interactive demonstrations and seminars exploring the science and technology behind the rehabilitation of the Latrobe Valley mines.

The full program will be released closer to the event. It will feature experts from government, industry and academia, and will have events suitable for secondary and tertiary students, as well as the general public.

This event is presented by the Latrobe Valley Mine Rehabilitation Commissioner and Gippsland Tech School.
