Share in, discover, and contribute to the excitement during National Science Week this August. The future is for everyone to create, and science is helping to build the future. So engage with science, and get involved in shaping our bright, collective future. Discuss, create and invent with us, because science is for everyone.
National Science Week is Australia’s annual celebration of science and technology, running each year in August.
Each year, over one million people participate in more than 2000 events across the country. These events attract a wide audience from children to adults, and citizen scientists to professionals, encouraging a broader interest in scientific pursuits, and inspiring younger people to be fascinated by the world we live in.
This celebration of science is your opportunity to contribute ideas, satisfy your curiosity, and learn about some of the many contributions of Australian scientists to the world of knowledge.
In 2022 we are partnering with a range of organisations to bring you a range of special events under the theme of Rare – check it out and be a part of the action. You can also join the programs offered by public libraries, schools, governments and institutions to keep us all engaged in the world of knowledge, discovery and invention. All activities in Victoria can be viewed on the National Science Week website.
Grants are available to schools, communities and public libraries each year through a variety of programs – current information is available here.
In Victoria, the Royal Society of Victoria manages the National Science Week Victoria program with assistance from the Victorian Coordinating Committee, under the broader Inspiring Australia initiative, in partnership with the Commonwealth Department of Innovation, Industry & Science, and the Victorian Department of Jobs, Precincts & Regions.
