Community STEAM Evening

13 August 2018 @ 4:00 pm5:30 pm

Free

Our community science night strives to change the way students, families and our community think about science and technology. The night is designed to provide a non-threatening environment for families to explore the importance of STEAM in our everyday lives. All students, families and friends are invited, along with our immediate community to participate in our Community Family STEAM Evening.

In our newly developed Maker Space hosting a bridge building challenge focusing on the choice of material verses pricing. Participants will be asked to build a bridge to span a 40cm gap with only the tokens they are given on the way in.

Within our Years 5/6 area there will be a focus on an aerial repopulation strategy. In this area you are asked to develop a way to get your chosen animal (plastic toy) to the island (sand patch) with the smallest amount of damage to allow for repopulation in the area.

The visual arts space will host an area to design your very own detailed diagrams of Rube Goldburg inventions. Our lab will be filled with microscopes to investigate the wonders of entomology.

A sustainability hub will encourage people to rethink their everyday choices and how they affect the future of our earth. Then finally, in the Jobs Of The Future space they will be immersed in the endless possibilities of coding and the joy of spheros.

Three Parrot MAMBO drones will also be available for families to experience.
